The centres and institutions of action, research and culture, as well as the reviews and the periodicals, listed in the database, the Mediterranean Directory, all have one factor in common: they are helping to increase knowledge about the Mediterranean world in areas such as history, archaeology or the study of civilizations. They are also directly involved in the major questions and problems being raised in this region, such as the deterioration of water resources, safeguarding the sea, demographic patterns and strategic questions.
Finally, all the organisations listed here are developing in a context of exchanges and cooperation with their Mediterranean equivalents.
The Mediterranean Directory, first published in 1982 and now online, has been constantly updating its resources, thanks to the aid of its users.
